- 00:47and now that we've talked so much about what will be
- 00:50happening in the course, we will give you a little introduction,
- 00:54a little more introduction about ourselves, so that you know
- 00:58a little bit about our backgrounds. So let's start with Salim.
- 01:02Salim is the managing director of Sabienza technologies,
- 01:05which is a Berlin-based company specialized to support
- 01:09secure telecommunications for remote teams.
- 01:11He is also a researcher at the Hasso Plattner Institute,
- 01:14working on cognitive science related to telecommuting.
- 01:19In the context of this cause his mainly responsible
- 01:23for the organizational and cognitive topics related to remote
- 01:26teamwork. Let's come to some fun facts: he loves Latin
- 01:32music, he loves researching with kids, and cooking Arab dishes.
- 01:36And now, you won't believe that, he even married remotely.
- 01:41In a yellow telephone box. You remember these, maybe if
- 01:44you're old enough, these old telephone boxes that used to stand around
- 01:47everywhere. He actually was using a 'Go-Bananas' prepaid
- 01:51card. Believe it or not, he's still married to the same woman... yeah
- 01:54exactly... Ok, now let me present you Hanadi, Hanadi a Design Thinking
- 02:00coach and researcher at the HPI-Stanford Design-Thinking Research
- 02:03Program. Her expertise it is in this digital learning,
- 02:07human centered design, and visual communication.
- 02:09In the context of this course, she will be mainly responsible
- 02:12for the intercultural competence in week three.
- 02:16Well, if we talk about some facts on Hanadi she has a
- 02:20lot to do with teamwork, specially at home with her twins:
- 02:24six year old boys. Problem solving, I believe
- 02:28you are absolutely good at... Absolutely ... There is something
- 02:31even more interesting about Hanadi: since he was born, she
- 02:35has never lived in one single place for more than three years...
- 02:39Sometimes not in the same city, not in the same country....
- 02:42Come on, imagine, now she is really a natural remote.
- 02:47So who is Tom? Tom is a researcher at the Hasso Plattner Institute,
- 02:51he's focusing in his work on teamwork, and collaborative learning
- 02:55in a large scale learning environments. He is part of the
- 02:59openHPI Team and so far has conducted several courses on
- 03:02Java programming, which often included team assignments and team
- 03:07tasks, right? In the context of this course he will mainly
- 03:12be responsible for week one. He will be introducing
- 03:16tools and technologies to support remote collaboration.
- 03:20Some facts about Tom: his favorite musicians are the Stranglers,
- 03:24Blondie, and Willie Nelson. He learned a lot about teamwork
- 03:29by being the drummer of several bands, he no longer drums...
- 03:34A little bit sometimes ... but not for us ... not for you.
- 03:37Not in the course, you won't see me doing that... But,
- 03:40get this, his most extreme experience with team collaboration and
- 03:47team work was through, living in a shared housing with twenty-
- 03:52eight people sharing one bathroom and one kitchen!
- 03:57For about three or four years. Oh, my god, and you survived?
- 04:01Yeah, I did, and it was fun!.... Absolutely...
- 04:05So now that we've presented ourselves, we would like
