- 00:00Ladies and Gentlemen I’d like to welcome you to our new openHPI
- 00:04course on business processes: modeling, simulation, execution.
- 00:09In this video clip I like to introduce you to the organization of the course.
- 00:16I like to start with the course Materials. The lecture videos
- 00:20are very important and we will provide the content of
- 00:24the course in a series of short video clips of about ten to fifteen minutes length.
- 00:31You will also be provided with a PDF files of the lecture slides

- 00:41Here and there we will also provide additional reading material
- 00:45for you to deepen your knowledge on the course content.
- 00:50I also like to remark that we reuse lecture videos from our previous courses
- 00:56and this applies to weeks one, two, three where we introduce
- 01:02let's say the foundations of business process management, basic
- 01:07business process modelling and the analysis and
- 01:10we analyze business process behavior.
- 01:14These parts did not change content wise from the previous
- 01:19courses so we just can import these. But we will also have updated and new material
- 01:24and this applies to week four, week five and week six where we discussed
- 01:30business decision modeling. And of course the two new weeks
- 01:35that are run by our partners from signavio and camunda.
- 01:41We will also provide tests Assignments and the final exam.
- 01:46Self test can be used to check learning progress. After each
- 01:51video clip you will be provided with self tests that you can use
- 01:55to deepen your understanding of what you have witnessed in the video clip.
- 02:01The self tests are not graded and they can be repeated as often as you like.
- 02:06There will also be weekly homework assignments and once you
- 02:10started with a homework assignment you have sixty minutes to complete them.
- 02:15Homework assignments are graded and they cannot be repeated.
- 02:20And we offer a final examination in week seven and that takes
- 02:24ninety minutes for you to complete.
- 02:28There are different records on HPI that you can achieve in this course.

- 02:54This record you get when you when you gain fifty percent
- 02:59of the overall score from the homework assignments and also
- 03:03from the final exam. You can also be awarded a qualified certificate
- 03:09that is from the what you have to do the same as the one before
- 03:13as a fifty percent of the overall score. But this
- 03:18qualified certificate has a participant's photo and it also comes with a
- 03:22with a price tag. For more information please take a look at

- 06:29You can register at this url that you see here and the
- 06:34free access to the complete system is limited to a period of sixty days.
- 06:41Again like to note that the use of this Signavio process or
- 06:46editor is not required for successfully participating in this course. You might
- 06:51also use another process modelling tool for this.
- 06:57Finally I like to introduce you to the weekly open HPI process.
- 07:03So on monday morning at ten o'clock all the material will
- 07:09be published on the openHPI page.
- 07:13So we have a publication of lecture videos of the teaching
- 07:17Material, of the self test and of the homework of the whole week.
- 07:22Your process starts from that time on where you can watch videos
- 07:27you can do the self tests.
- 07:29And it's a very good idea to start with a homework only
- 07:34after you've watched all video lectures of that week. Because
- 07:38once you started the homework you have sixty minutes to complete
- 07:41the homework and you cannot redo the homework again.
- 07:46the homework must be completed before wednesday at ten in the evening
- 07:51of the following weeks so its nine days after the publication
- 07:55of the course content. And it's important that you take a careful
- 07:59look at the time zone that you're in so all times are central
- 08:03european time and you need to submit your homework before wednesday
- 08:08a ten o'clock in the evening central european time.
- 08:13Solutions to the homework are provided on thursdays on the
- 08:17next day at ten o'clock in the morning.
- 08:22The final exam can be taken in the seventh week of our course and
- 08:27that is from monday June twenty fourth at ten o'clock in the morning
- 08:32and the deadline for completion is a wednesday the third of July
- 08:38at twenty two hours.
- 08:43On this slide you will see a model, a graphical representation of the
- 08:48course schedules. So you see the individual weeks
- 08:54and I hope that it's now clear how the openHPI weeks work here.
- 09:03All right with that I like to conclude this introductory
- 09:07video clip also on behalf of the teaching team. We are really glad
- 09:13to have you on board and we wish you a very good learning experience.
