These readings are completely optional, they allow you to gather further knowledge about the presented topics.
- An explanation video about the principles of parallelism. At the beginning, James Reinders from Intel talks about the difference between data parallelism and task parallelism.
- The surface-to-volume effect, explained as part of Foster's methodology (which will be explained in Week 6)
- The Portable Hardware Locality (hwloc) project offers an API for determining the hardware topology of modern computers programmatically. This is a precondition for implementing a task mapping algorithm.
