- 00:00Hi and welcome to the very first video in this course In this video we're going to discuss with you why
- 00:07many people are interested in quantum computing, and we'll talk about what we can do together over the next few weeks.
- 00:13Are going to learn about quantum computing.
- 00:15Tomorrow quantum computers are interesting for one thing simply because they are new and new things are always interesting, but these
- 00:22novelty also brings a new place algorithms to solve a new place how to approach problems and make things efficient
- 00:30can do things that didn't exist before, and that's a view shared by other people Not just researchers like us, but
- 00:37after politicians who want to support quantum computer research and in the future with new money so that you have several
- 00:46of these and can tackle quite a lot of problems this not only in Germany before, as you can see here, but at most
- 00:53the case in the UK and other parts of Europe, so you'll really see a lot more quantum computers in the future and I'm
- 00:59would like to teach here in this course about that best of all You want to understand how quantum computers work, then.
- 01:07look forward to the next few weeks, because in the first part, we're going to first learn a little bit about the theory of quantum computing
- 01:13learn.
- 01:14We will talk about why some problems are so difficult for today's computers and how we use quantum physics
- 01:21to build a whole new kind of computer, these very quantum computers.
- 01:25We're going to talk about what challenges we face in the area of quantum technologies, and we'll
- 01:31will talk about where quantum computers can be used in the future.
- 01:37Then in a second part, we'll also do some additional quantum computer programming, first of all using
- 01:44of a tool, for which we do not need any previous programming knowledge, and then we will also learn the programming language Python.
- 01:52for those of you who already know a little bit of programming, and we'll see when we do different episodes of
- 01:58we have blue as classic and purple for anything new for quantum computing and those two forms we will use throughout
- 02:06in all the other videos as well and so we look forward to teaching you this one together.
