Welcome back to school! In the upcoming week, we want to refresh you basic understanding of biological components and its function. As your last biology class might be as long ago as for us, we want to build the fundamental understanding of relevant components in human cells.

Therefore, here is a brief overview, what you can expect from us this week:

• Facts you should know,
  
• Real-world use case: Oncology,
  
• Components of cells, DNA and RNA,
  
• Lifecycle of cells,
  
• Transcription and translation, and
  
• Genetic changes.
  

The homework for week 1 will be available on Thursday, November 17th, 09:00 CET. From then on you will have 1 week time to submit the assignment (multiple choice test).

Important dates:

• Thursday, November 17th, 09:00 CET: publication of the homework of week 1
  
• Thursday, November 24th, 20:00 CET: due date for the homework assignment of week 1
