Conduct Interview - Assignment
After choosing a topic for your interviews, conduct at least two interviews. Go through these steps:
1. Prepare your interview
Before you go out and talk to people, make a plan. We have two more videos for you in which we give recommendations for your interview preparation. Remember to think of questions that will trigger stories and allow you to learn something surprising about your interviewee. This guideline will help you to create good interview questions. Note that you don’t need to necessarily stick to the formulations that we have suggested in this guideline, especially considering that many of you might conduct the interview in other languages than English. You are the expert in your mother tongue, so try to find appropriate equivalents for the suggested questions in your language.
2. Conduct (at least) two interviews
Remember: It's not about quantity, it's about quality. A good interview is like an honest conversation. Your goal is to learn something that you didn't know, not to confirm your own assumptions.
3. Summarize the BEST interview in the "Capture Your Interview" template
Download THIS template. Choose the most surprising and interesting interview and structure your notes from that interview in the template. We strongly recommend to open and edit the document using the program Adobe Acrobat Reader! If you are unsure about how to use the template, take a look at this filled-in example template!
4. Save the template - you will need it in week 4!
In the next week, we look into interpreting your interviews. You will need the "Capture your Interview" template to take the next steps, and we will also ask you to upload it in that week's assignment.
